Fans saw a new look from the Ravens offense yesterday, dubbed the Wild Bird. Is this an offense that is here to stay, or will it be migrating south for the winter?

Quarterback: A-
Joe Flacco and Troy Smith both saw playing at the quarterback position. Flacco threw for a touchdown, ran for another and caught a 43-yarder from Troy Smith in the “Suggs Package”, as coach John Harbaugh deemed it. Flacco had some bouts of inaccuracy, but overall, he was consistent and managed the game well. He showed both pocket presence and speed. Baltimore’s finally found their quarterback.

Offensive Line: B+
The offensive line did an outstanding job protecting their quarterbacks. Zero sacks allowed. The unit also opened up holes for the running backs, and held the Raiders’ defensive line in check throughout the day, but logged some serious penalties that hurt offensive drives.

Running Backs: A
The benefits of Ray Rice were finally realized, as he ran at will against Oakland, averaging 8 yards per carry. Willis McGahee was solid in his performance, grinding out yards to keep the Ravens in full control of the game. Le’Ron McClain, and Flacco also racked up valuables yards.

Wide Receivers: B
The receiving corps was solid in their performance. Long balls to Demetrius Williams, who scored on a 70-yard pass from Flacco, and a 43-yard pass to Flacco from Smith were clearly the highlights. Derrick Mason’s receiving role was diminished a bit, catching just one pass for three yards, but the ball was spread around nicely in a well-balanced attack.

Defense: A
The defense owned the Oakland Raiders yesterday. Terrell Suggs is having an outstanding year, and at this rate, is a lock for the Pro-Bowl. Defensive end Trevor Pryce had three tackles, as did tackles Haloti Ngata and Marques Douglas. Ray Lewis and Bart Scott combined for nine tackles, while Jarrett Johnson continues to impress.

Special Teams: B
Yamon who? Jim Leonhard is filling in nicely for the injured Figurs. It is just a matter of time before he runs one back to the house. Rice also chipped in, averaging 27 yards on his two returns. Matt Stover didn’t miss any field goals, so it was a good day for him as well.

Coaching: A
Cam Cameron continues to find ways to involve the talent on this team, and the offense is certainly responding to the challenge. Rex Ryan had his defense geared up and ready to play. Once again, the Ravens had a game plan and executed it perfectly.
