Well, Now That Lent’s Over…
Written by Dan March 24th, 2008Alright, so… apologies for the bit of a sabbatical on the part of our little One Winning Drive crew, but we’re back now and ready to get going again!
Let’s take a moment and review what’s gone on since we’ve been, well, gone…
Alright, cool, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to the meat and potatoes of things: Draft Day 2008 is just over a month away and the Ravens have quite the decision to make. Here’s OWD’s own mini-mock of what might be to come…
1. Miami Dolphins - A Long. Which one doesn’t really matter, does it?
2. St. Louis Rams - The other Long. Eeny meeny miny… who cares.
3. Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan, QB. Sorry to all those in Bmore, but really, I don’t think Ozzie is thinking QB at the moment. Really, I don’t.
4. Oakland Raiders - Glenn Dorsey, DT. Oh, darn you, Warren Sapp! Those two would have been fun to watch together, right? A little late.
5. Kansas City Chiefs - Ryan Clady, OT. He’s the new hot pick for this spot, so who am I to disagree? I wouldn’t be surprised with they went another direction, though. OT, Schmo-T, you’ve got LJ.
6. New York Jets - Darren McFadden, RB. Fact is, none of the Top 6 are actually going to want him. And no, Jesse Chatman is not good enough to make me think they feel good about their RB situation.
7. New England Patriots - They should take this pick away, so I’m not even going to fill it in…
8. Baltimore Ravens - And so… here we are… with so many choices… what should we do?
Aqib Talib, CB; Leodis McKelvin, CB; Brian Brohm, QB; Matt Ryan, QB (already taken in our mock); Keith Rivers, LB; Sedrick Ellis, DT; Dominique Roberts-Cromartie, CB; Mike Jenkins, CB.
Official Prediction**: Trading Down… no, kidding, what a cop-out that would have been, right? OWD says… Keith Rivers, LB, USC. Linebacker may not be this team’s greatest need, but Rivers is an excellent athlete and will serve the team well. He could be a nice protege below Ray Lewis, but also help give the defense more options - allowing Bart Scott and Terrell Suggs keep their focus on pass-rushing, while he and Lewis mind the inside. And regarding QBs - this team is going to wait a round, or more, before finding Joe Flacco.
** Subject to change anytime I feel…
