The Giants have been exceptional on their drive. As I type, New York is still on their first drive with less than seven minutes on the clock. They’ve done a heck of a job picking up the blitzing Patriots and their playcalling has been very balanced. As ExtremeRavens’ John Biasucci mentioned, destiny may be on New York’s side.

New York put up quite a fight against New England in the season’s final week, and it is obvious that they will do the same here. They’ve been exploiting the Patriots’ defense, which is something that the New England Patriots may not be completely used to.

The Patriots defense, however, has just managed to stop the threatening Giants, which has resulted in a New York field goal. Tom Brady and the Patriots’ offense now have about five minutes to find a groove and score.

New England is also doing a decent job in moving the ball as well. So far, the game appears to be all about the offense. The Patriots are threatening to score, as they move the ball close to the 20-yard line.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first penalty of the night and it is a pass interference call against the Giants…in the end zone. That is really going to hurt.

With a final run play, that is the end of the quarter.

As for this year’s crop of first quarter commercials, I’ve enjoyed the Audi R8 spot with the very dead “old luxury” car in the bed with the rich guy. Second place would have to go to the Diet Pepsi Max ad, that included several celebrities, complete with Chris Kattan.

Honorable mentions to Bridgestone for their “Screaming Wildlife” ad.

Locally, Under Armour bought some ad time in this year’s Super Bowl, and it just aired. Unfortunately for me, because I own stock in the company, it was a pretty typical, forgettable ad. I was waiting for the “We Must Protect This House” rebel yell, but it never came. A bit of a disappointment.
